The French government recently announced plans to replace the current zero-interest mortgage scheme (prêt à taux zéro) for home buyers who had previously been tenants for at least two years, and the tax rebate scheme (credit-impôt) for other buyers on part of the loan interest they pay, by a new interest-free loan (prêt à taux zéro renforcé).
