At the end of this week, Antibes will receive the honour of achieving the European status of Une Ville et Métiers d’Art. A significant feather in the town’s creative cap, this award brings extra status to the town within the European Union as well as to gaining funding for the promotion of the artistic work that is carried out here.
Residents are invited to come and take part in the ceremony at Les Arcades, 18 Boulevard d’Aguillon, at 11.30am on Friday 31st March. Here they will find an exhibition celebrating the Artisans d’Art Antibois. 33 local artists and artisans have their work exhibited here and it's a great opportunity to discover the broad range of works that are being produced. This includes: glass work, jewellery, bronze work, wedding dresses and fine inlaid wood work. Work from some of Antibes’ most well-known artists is here such as Les Hélènes and Ho Lui.
After the ceremony, there will be a cocktail at 12.30pm at the Design & Métiers d’Art pop-up store, which marks the launch of Les Journées des Métiers d’Art. Over the next few weeks, Antibes will be embarking on an extensive artistic programme. Full details can be found at: http://fr.calameo.com/read/00207450469f0504ab732.
