The French Riviera and Corsica have been placed on yellow storm alert ahead of continuing adverse conditions. Stormy weather – including violent thunder and lightning – is the main cause of concern, but the sudden and heavy snowfall in the Mercantour and Southern Alps may give way to avalanches in some zones.
Rainfall and storms are set to continue into tonight, but wear off by early morning on Friday 10th November. After a cloudy weekend, the standard sunny skies of the Côte d’Azur are expected to return for next week.
Coastal towns and cities will be worst affected by the current weather and residents are reminded to be vigilant and safe when travelling.
