Wondering what to do on a rainy day? The International Game Festival in Cannes, which has been held at the Palais des Festival every year since 1978, has everything from traditional board games to simulation games like Escape Room, video games and trading card games. It’s on until 25th February and admission is free!
During the festival, several competitions will be taking place and award ceremonies… Out of thousands of new board games, a jury of experts and journalist has selected the Top 3: Azul, an abstract strategy game from German designer Michael Kiesling for two to four people; family game Nom d’Un Renard; and Terraforming Mars by Swedish designer Jacob Fryxelius for up to five people, in which players try to make Mars inhabitable for humans.
For lovers of the classics, a Scrabble tournament is being held throughout the weekend – who in your house has the best range of vocabulary? Chess masters can challenge friends and strangers over the board in the Open International Pierre & Vacances. For the full programme:
