Motorists can donate gifts to needy children
For the tenth year running, motorists are being encouraged to donate gifts for the “Pour Les Enfants Sans Noël” Christmas appeal. The programme, which aims to provide less fortunate children with toys and games for Christmas, was set up by the autoroute society Escota and has collection points at the Péage (motorway toll) at Antibes, Pont de l’Etoile and La Saulce. The appeal collected 800 toys in its first year, but this had risen to 27,000 last year. At the end of the collection period, the gifts are redistributed to various organisations who then give them out to families in need. Operation 2004, which has just started, will last until December 5, and motorists can drop off their gifts between 8am and 8pm. The toys and games must be in good condition to be accepted.
