The beautiful Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild on Cap Ferrat will host its eighth annual edition of the Fête des Roses et des Plantes on 6th and 7th May. Often called the Great Spring Event of the Côte d’Azur, the former home of the Baroness Rothschild will be transformed into a gardener’s paradise. Some thirty odd exhibitors and professionals of the plant world (among them many rose experts) will be showcasing the most beautiful flowers and plants from the Mediterranean with a particular emphasis placed on roses.
Whether you’re a novice gardener or a seasoned pruner, come along to the iconic Rose Festival and amble among the climbing roses, shrubs roses and ground creepers, discovering both new and old species of this ancient symbol of romance alike. The programme of the weekend consists of talks with top exhibitors, gardening advice from many experts, gardening and flower composition workshops for young and old, and a display of extremely rare Mediterranean plants. There will also be guided visits of the nine thematic gardens of the Villa Rothschild property. Gardening tools and new and antique garden furniture will also be on sale at stalls during the festival.
The illustrious flower illustrator Rose Grey will also be at the festival with a stand where she will be teaching people how to draw and paint flowers. She will be sharing her creations with a live feed during the weekend and encouraging people to incorporate flowers (petals in particular) into their creations, like she did last year.
A free shuttle bus will be running from the train station at Beaulieu-sur-Mer and certain areas in Cap Ferrat. Tickets are priced at 12/15€ and can be bought online at http://villa-ephrussi.tickeasy.com/Information.aspx.
