Toll operators strike

Drivers could be in for some free rides

Unrest and strikes by people operating the tolls on the Escota network from Menton to Aix-en-Provence could be good news for drivers in the coming week. Yesterday around 30 per cent answered a call from the union to down tools in protest at Escota’s plans to make the system fully automatic. They want reassurance that there will not be any forced redundancies. The strike continues today but will be suspended at the weekend, so no free rides then.
