National football team is in with a chance in the premier league
AS Monaco rediscovered confidence and form in a thrilling match at the Stade Louis II last night to beat arch rivals Marseille 2-1. Only two points now separate Marseille (51), Monaco (50) and Lille (49) in the battle for second place in the French premier league. Meanwhile, Lyon has extended its lead at the top of the table to 62 points.
Monaco’s stadium, including all the Marseille supporters’ stands, was packed to the rafters with a good humoured crowd of nearly 18,000, although tempers boiled over several times on the pitch. Monaco’s two goals came in the first half from the Brazilian, Douglas Maïcon, and Emmanuel Adebayor.
