Congress centre must find a new company urgently
The Acropolis is fighting against the clock as it tries to find a new organisation to take over its management by the end of the month. The company General Events announced that it is to withdraw its offer to look after the general running of the Nice conference and exhibition centre.
The agreement for General Events to take over the management was expected to be approved by the local council at a meeting next Friday.
This latest development creates a big problem for the Acropolis as its current lease runs out at the end of the month. The Acropolis has a NATO congress scheduled for February, which has already been paid for at a cost of 1.3 million euro. General Events cited problems posed by the employees’ and the hotels’ trade unions as reasons behind their decision, stating that they acted as a hindrance to further development.
