CÔTE D'AZUR & PROVENCE
We are pleased to announce our new July/August issue, finally back in print! This issue is an unusual two-in-one edition, thanks to the coronavirus… We have made a double issue with our sister publication, RivieraZeit (in German), so one side is Riviera Insider and if you flip it over, it’s RivieraZeit.
As a magazine that focuses on events like concerts, festivals, performances and also restaurants, the unprecedented cancellations meant we were faced with much less content than usual (not to mention the cancellation of the Monaco Yacht Show the day after we went to print!). So instead of printing two ‘light’ issues, we thought we try something new! And this gives you a chance to browse both magazines (if you can brave the German).
Despite our reduced pages, we still have some great content for you, including some great ways to discover all that the Côte d’Azur has to offer. We start off with our hotlist, covering the Tour de France, some new addresses, including fresh, fluffy doughnuts and the first cereal bar in Nice. Then we have a few pages dedicated to the Coronavirus in the Alpes-Maritimes and the unexpected positive outcomes from our ‘global pause’. We give our top 3 picks of beachside restaurants, plus a listing of tons of places to enjoy a hot summer evening with your toes in the sand. The editor divulges her favourite spot for her burger obsession and our nature contributor takes you to the secret coves of Ile Ste. Marguerite. Our travel section is devoted to the French Riviera! We give a listing of fun activities to do like kayaking the Loup river or renting e-bikes to explore the Esterels. Several local hotels offer specials so you can book a ‘staycation’ right here in our own backyard. After all, the whole world dreams to come here for their holiday! We also list all the Blue Flag beaches in Liguria and PACA, so you know where the cleanest beaches are during your holiday.
True to our name, we take you inside a gorgeous family villa on Cap d’Antibes, designed by Cannes-based interior design firm. The furniture, the views, the pool… it’s stunning. Then we take a walk down memory lane with the story of Villa la Pausa in Roquebrune before it became the famed Chanel villa.
For golf fans, we take you to our writer’s ultimate course for beauty and a true challenge.
The Coronavirus has made all of us change our habits, our patterns and our way of life - if we are lucky enough to have survived it. But after the terrible loss of life, the next crisis is the looming economic disaster. In ‘Cannes’ man with a plan’, we look at the numerous initiatives and programs Cannes Mayor David Lisnard has put forward to ensure that local businesses can survive the devastating economic blow.
If you turn the July-August issue upside down, have a look at RivierZeit, which covers the cycling and hiking tours in unspoilt nature. Follow them to Liguria, where you can escape the coastal hustle and bustle, for a donkey hike in Prelà Castello north of Imperia. They delve into where the drinking water for Provence and the Côte d'Azur comes from and why this southern region is better equipped to deal with climate change than the north of France in terms of water supply. There are also stories of interesting encounters with actress Bibiana Beglau and Alfred Hitchock, cultural tips for the summer, real estate news and more.
Another effect of Coronavirus is where our magazines will be available. Due to health restrictions on public spaces, we can’t distribute to many of our usual spots. What is the easiest way to get our new issue? Think about subscribing! We still offer 6 issues for 39 euros (delivery to France, Monaco) or 43 euros (delivery to all other countries) delivered straight to your home.
