Unemployed to be recruited in to SNCF

Louis Gallois, the president of the SNCF, last night announced the intended recruitment of 800 unemployed youths to work on the trains in 2006. This follows the announcement of Transport Minister Dominque Perben, who intends to recruit around a hundred to work in security for trains, which would increase the number to around 2300.Read more

Government Announces Unemployment Measures

French Prime Minister Minister Dominque de Villepin announced new measures yesterday to combat youth unemployment. They include offering benefits to those unemployed under the age of 26 whilst they are searching for work. Many temporary workers in this age group are not entitled to any state help.Read more
