The Mouans-Sartoux Santons Fair, the oldest and most important in the Alpes-Maritimes department is going on now until the 24th December. The hand-made santons are a beloved and ancient tradition of Provence. Each year, the town of Mouans-Sartoux welcomes more than 8,000 visitors to view the handmade dolls.
The Santons are on display at the Médiathèque-La Strada, just next to the cinema. Two hundred square meters of characters and accessories of all shapes and colours will be on display.
A favourite for creating Christmas nativity scenes, the fair will also offer crib accessories, books on the history and art of santons, figurines to paint, and mini Provençal houses.
