The Ballets de Monte Carlo's artistic director Jean-Christophe Maillot is heading to London’s prestigious Covent Garden with the Ballet du Bolshoi for a performance of William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew on 3rd and 4th August.
The acclaimed choreographer and resident artistic director of the Ballets de Monte Carlo group will lead his dancers through a ‘fast paced and athletic production’ of the timeless The Taming of the Shrew, re-adapated for the art of ballet.
According to the Royal Opera House of Covent Garden, Maillot’s production is: “a perfect vehicle for the superb strengths of the Bolshoi. Drawing out all that is witty and light-hearted in Shostakovich’s music, this vibrant production perfectly conveys Shakespeare’s brilliantly entertaining depiction of the clash between two feisty individuals, as independent, tempestuous Katharina is ‘tamed’ by the boorish Petruchio.”
The performance will last around one hour and 45 mintues with one interval. Tickets can be purchased online at: www.roh.org.uk.
