COTE D'AZUR & PROVENCE
In the case of a last minute change of plans for this evening, Riviera Insider has a fun alternative to propose: a nocturnal market in Saint-Auban. Between 6 pm and 11 pm tonight, the village’s roads in the Grasse Region will be filled with local businesses and animations. Organized by two associations, SaintOfolies and Inspiration Esteron, the night promises a refreshing market experience under the stars. It’s an opportunity to enjoy live concerts and avoid getting a sunburn in these times of hot weather.
At the foot of the Tragastel rock, surrounded by lakes and plains, this event’s setting couldn’t be more picturesque. Even if that can be said to describe a significant number of places in the Southern region, the village of Saint-Auban has the charm of being relatively small and quite remote. Though it has lost its keep and ramparts, some ruins from its medieval’ past remain to give it a historical atmosphere. What better site to enjoy a nocturnal market in!
In the typical Provence-style streets of the village, visitors will come across craftsmen, musicians, performers, and artists. Everyone will be able to enjoy a peaceful stroll or participate in activities such as local art exhibitions and fun games. These games have been organized to entertain young and old children alike with sack races and various fun competitions. Otherwise, local producers will be present with dishes from the region if visitors need a culinary break.
Ultimately, if not everyone is able to make it to this evening market, they shouldn’t be discouraged to visit this lovely village. The location itself offers plenty of different things to do, from cultural sites to sport-related activities! There’s, after all, the Saint-Auban canyoning route which lasts around three hours with many aquatic fun obstacles. Heritage trails and other cultural sites are also worth a visit.
